New Beginnings & Happy Endings2008

Sam was given to rescue by his owner. She had accumulated a lot of medical bills due to breast cancer and was unable to care for Sam. It was very difficult for her to make the decision to find a better home for Sam. Fortunately, she felt very comfortable with turning him over to rescue, especially after she met his foster parents. He's almost 5 years old and is healthy boy. He has an adorable FozzyBear face and is trim and very agile. He’s well behaved, loves attention and he has no problem with other dogs. (He’s also accustomed to being around cats.) He is playful and it doesn’t seem that the transition has affected his wonderful personality. He had to learn stairs at his foster home…. His foster Mom holds him back so he'll take his time and reach the bottom on all four feet. To see him teetee is hilarious! He hikes up so high, his leg goes over the top of his back and pulls him off balance then he ends up in a hand stand!!! Loves it outdoors and once he’s outside his is nose down, like a bloodhound. He is the perfect companion and would do great in a home with other pets and children.

“CJ” He was found wandering as a stray.  We took him to the vet and he discovered he had 3 stones in his urethra and 2 in his bladder.  Dr. Blackburn had to get the stones from his urethra back into his bladder and he then successfully removed all of them.  CJ is doing great now.  He still has a small problem with his back legs that we think may be neurological.  It causes his back legs to slightly drag, but it doesn’t affect him at all.  You would never know he’s 7 years old by the way he runs, jumps and plays.  He gets along great with other dogs and the vet seems to think that these issues will improve. He is up to date on all his shots and is heartworm negative and on prevention. He is a real gentleman; he eats nicely with all the other pugs, take treats very gently, ride well in the car, just an all around respectable guy.

Lupita   If you are looking for a lap dog, then Lupita is for you. She is less than a year old- a good walker on a leash & seems close to being kenneled trained. Gets along with all & is looking for a forever home.

Allie is a sweet, healthy 2 yr old spayed female Pug. She was obviously well cared for by her previous owner, who was forced to move to assisted living due to her own medical problems and is no longer able to care for Allie. The owner was absolutely heart broken to give her up, and once you meet her you can see why.  Allie is very happy-go-lucky. She gets along well with both dogs and cats, as well as the neighborhood children who come just to play with her at her foster home. Allie is very playful, and loves being outside, whether to run, go for a walk, or just sit in the sun on a nice day. She is quite affectionate and likes to stay close to her humans; her foster family has nicknamed her “Shadow” since she always seems to be right there next to them.

Roman Reggie

Reggie is a 2 year old male who was found wandering as a stray.  He's a sweet boy that gets along with other dogs.  He's healthy, up to date on his shots and ready for a forever home.

Figgy Shelby County authorities busted a puppy mill in

Shelby Forest  Friday, February 1, 2008.  They confiscated 63 dogs and charged the owner with running a kennel without a license. The dogs were contained in about 40 wood-and-wire cages, each sitting on stilts. The cages, clustered under trees about 100 yards behind the brick home, stood in an unkempt backyard amid a menagerie of roaming chickens, geese and pheasants. The cage floors contained feces and the bare, muddy ground underneath the cages was marked by several areas where animal waste had been accumulated in large piles.  Figgy was taken to the shelter in Bartlett, TN and picked up the next day by PRoM.  This 2 year old Pug was very affectionate and social from the time she was picked up.  It took a couple of baths to get the horrendous stench off of her.  An initial exam shows her to be in good health.. she's tested negative for heartworms, was given all of her shots and will be ready for her "forever" home after she is spayed on 2/12/08/

Meet Brownie. He is only a year old and lived his entire life outdoors. His owner not only didn't bother to give him food & water, but also withheld love and affection that all young Pugs need. The ASPCA was contacted by his owner's neighbor. They took him away and thankfully the owner did not want him back. PRoM was contacted and we picked him up the same day. It was obvious he needed the excellent of our vet, Dr. Blackburn. He had Sarcoptice Mange. Brownie stayed at the vet for 6 weeks. He also had a nasty yeast infection in addition to the mange. Thankfully he's heartworm negative and otherwise healthy. He's been neutered, his shots are up to date and he's in a foster home. In spite of being malnourished and neglected to the point of being forgotten, Brownie has a winning personality and a huge spirit.

Siegy is a 6 month old that was rescued from a puppy mill when he was 9 weeks old.  He weighed less than a lb. The lady told them she had weaned him at 3 weeks old.  He has been nursed nursed back to health and he's a typical wild pug puppy. His coat is a beautiful light color.  He's had all his shots and been  neutered.
