In Memorium

Just this side of heaven
is a place called Rainbow Bridge

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.  There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.  There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.  All the animals who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing, they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.  They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.  His bright eyes are intent, his eager body quivers,  Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.  You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet you cling together in joyous reunion never to be parted again.  The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.....

Chloe Nicole
December 25, 2000 - February 27, 2004

Chloe Nichole was only 3 years old when she passed away. She and her puppy escaped from the back yard on February 27, 2004. Some kind men found them on the side of the street. Chloe had been hit by a car and Sadie was lying next to her lifeless body. They took Sadie to the Vet's office where they looked up her information and called us to tell us the news. We brought Sadie home unhurt, but very shaken up. She really missed her Mama. We buried Chloe in the back yard on February 28. We put up a white cross, flowers, and a white fence around her grave. All of our other pugs: Dominic, Sadie, Edd, Ann, and Keeley, and our Golden Retriever Bailey, visit her grave often. Chloe was a very happy and energetic pug. She loved having her toenails painted. No dog could ever replace her. We miss her dearly.

Maggie

"Maggie was my daughter Tracy's pet. She was one year and one day old when she died. Tracy had taken her to get spayed and she died at the vet's office. Maggie was very much loved. Tracy's sister, Rachel, was killed in a car accident when she was 16 and Tracy has been devastated without her. A friend gave Maggie to Tracy and she became a great comfort to her. She is very much missed. Tracy, Maggie and Harley, a black pug, lived in Horn Lake, MS."---submitted by Patti

Lucy

Her owner turned over this adorable 4-year-old to a shelter.  A Pug rescue volunteer saw her in the Jonesboro, AR shelter. She was appalled to find this adorable girl being kept outdoors because of a shortage of space at the facility. She appeared to be healthy and well cared for. Sadly, she did test positive for heartworms and had begun treatment.  Lucy had a sparkling personality and blended with the other pets in her foster home.  Early Sunday morning, May 11 she had a seizure.  She went peacefully and didn't experience any pain.  From the time she came to rescue she was loved and part of a family.

Billy

On Saturday, June 19, Billy was rushed to the emergency vet after he began to have trouble breathing and became unconscious. Initial tests show he has congestive heart failure. Billy was presumably tested for heartworms at the Memphis Animal shelter, and was negative. Dr. Blackburn did more blood work when we brought him in last Monday and he's got them very bad. At the beginning of last week he began to show signs of improvement. We were optimistic Billy's condition would continue to improve, but that was not to be. On Thursday he began to have trouble breathing and had to be hand fed. By Saturday morning his kidney's began to fail and he could not longer wag his tail. Billy left us with dignity and he went to eternal sleep in the loving arms of MeLisa & Anna.
