China

China is an 8-year-old sweetheart who was severely neglected and abandoned by her owner. China Doll was anemic and experiencing a false pregnancy. Her tiny body was destroying her own platelets and she was bleeding internally.  When she was well enough to endure a hysterectomy she finally began to show signs of improvement.  After two months with Dr. Blackburn she was released to her foster home.  We wanted her to feel secure with her new surroundings before beginning heartworm treatment.  She didn't know how to be a PUG.... but the Higdon's and their pets taught her how to be a Pug and her personality emerged.   China's lungs were damaged and she will remain on medication to ease her symptoms.  Her prognosis for a carefree life is excellent.  She is a miracle and her spirit moves us all to continue our rescue mission.  This is her story.....

In the summer of 2002 Anna got a call from a vet clinic that had a Pug that had been left by her owner to be put down. She was obviously extremely ill and the owner was not willing to pay for any of the tests that would determine what the cause of her symptoms were. Anna told them Pug Rescue would pick her up and take her to Dr. Blackburn. China was very thin and pale and she could hardly stand up on her own. She has obviously been breed quite a few times. One of her eyes was swollen and we knew she had to be in pain. In spite of all of this her spirit was still there. She tested positive for heartworms and her lungs had already sustained damage. China stayed at Gentle Care for over 4 weeks before she was able to be spayed and begin heartworm treatment. When she was finally able to go to her foster home everyone was thrilled. Her personality came out and she was happy to be alive! When Tony Pastor first found the website China was going through the treatment for heartworms. As he began to follow her progress he knew that when she was ready to be adopted she would always require special treatment and a particular environment in order to thrive. He knew that he and his wife had the ideal living conditions and experience that would be required to care for her. Tony felt they were destined to adopt China. His only concern was how their other Pugs, Muffy and Spanky would respond to her. Muffy came from a breeder in Hickory Flat, MS. They were told she was 6 weeks old, but believe she was only 4 weeks old. She was born with only a stub of a tail and other birth defects. She only weighed one pound and was in the hospital with pneumonia within a few days after they brought her home. She’s had medical problems. She’s lost all her hair from mites and has had surgery on her deformed knee joints. However, this bossy little Pug is a happy girl with a big attitude. About a year after getting Muffy, the Pastori’s purchased Spanky from a breeder in Corinth, MS. He was in good health and is now a 32 lb. boy who loves his toys. He gets very excited when he meets new friends. Muffy didn’t realize she was a dog until Spanky joined the family. Spanky loves Muffy and she has learned to tolerate him.

It's been almost a year since China joined the family. She quickly adjusted to her new home and siblings. Right away Muffy taught her how to beg for food and Spanky showed her how to run out the doggie door when it is bath time. Linda & Tony thought China couldn’t bark: she didn’t make any sound at all. She’s now very vocal (they think Spanky taught her how to bark).

It wasn’t long before China gained weight; in fact, more than she should! Even though it’s a distance and not always convenient, Tony still takes China for regular visits to Dr. Blackburn so he can monitor her health. She’s on medication to control her cough and she gets a shot every other week to strengthen her windpipe so she breathes easier. As a precaution, she takes a round of antibiotics every month. Muffy is still the boss, but her and Spanky both have been nothing short of amazing with China. Now that spring has arrived they like to help Linda work in the flowerbeds. They also enjoy sun bathing on the deck. China wants everyone to know that she has found the right home and is very happy. She has plenty of love and food and everything she needs and wants (well, she could us a little more food). China is so grateful to Pug Rescue of Memphis for rescuing her and also to her foster home, Lisa & David Higdon for taking such good care of her.

Sweetie

Sweetie, a 3 year old, 16 pound, fawn female Pug was owned by a breeder who said she wasn't good breeding material and turned her over to Pug Rescue. She is a lucky girl who was adopted by Kris Bzjack who was looking for another Pug.  Sweetie loves to give kisses and cuddle. Her new family loves her and she's been a perfect addition to their family.

BABY

Baby, a 6 year old female Pug, came from a puppy mill.  For the last several years she was fortunate enough to the live in the breeder's home.  She is house trained and extremely loving. She craves attention and likes to be close to everyone.  Baby is about 20 lbs and has a gorgeous apricot colored coat.  She has been adopted by Kris Bizjack.  Kris had a pet that recently passed away and she decided she wanted a Pug.  Baby is a delight to her new family and brings them lots of love and pleasure.

Bella

Bella was turned over to rescue from the same breeder as Sweetie. She was spayed, brought up to date on her shots and got a badly needed dental. She melted in the arms of her new Mom, Margaret. Margaret’s granddaughter Anna came along to pick up Bella and it didn’t take long for her to relax and let her sparkling personality shine through. This young Pug will enjoy life as a treasured pet and will not to have to spend the rest of her life being bred time after time.

PEGGY SUE

Peggy Sue came from a breeder who used her over and over again to produce puppies. Her tummy literally dragged the ground because she was so overweight it was difficult for her to move. She is truly an angel with an incredibly sweet disposition. It was so sad to see such a beautiful Pug whose dignity had been taken away. At times she would stand on one of her nipples and not even realize it. After consulting with Dr. Blackburn we decided that removing a portion of her breast tissue would help restore her dignity and allow her to live a full and happy life. Peggy Sue now lives in Florence,KY with her new family and is thriving. She’s jumping up to crawl in her human brother’s lap and enjoys playtime with her Pug brother, Prince.

Sonny (aka Winston)

Sonny is settled and happy in his new home.  In the beginning he was a finicky eater, but loved his Pug brother, Pugsly, from the beginning.  When his new Mom saw his picture she thought he had a strong resemblance to Pugsly.  She had been looking for another Pug and knew Sonny was the one! Sonny finally has a family that will care for him. He's doing great and has adjusted so well he is like Velcro to June, her husband, and Pugsly.

Wednesday

This is Wednesday with her brother Pugsley. Wednesday was turned over to rescue by her owner when he didn't have time for her any longer.  She was accustomed to being kept in a crate most of the time and had no one to interact with.   The Martin's knew the perfect sister for Pugsley had come along when they saw this fawn baby girl.

Oscar

Good things come to those who wait & and that's the story of Oscar. He was with us for 6 months and there were many applicants who were eager to make Oscar a part of their family. The Carson's from Columbia, TN contacted Pug Rescue and we knew it was a perfect match! Oscar was truly meant to be a part of their family and within a day after they were approved Oscar was picked up and on his way "home." He blends perfect with the family's other pets and has already endeared himself to all the neighbors who came to greet and welcome him.

Annabelle

Annabelle is a delightful 5 year old Pug that was turned over by her owner. The owner had to move to a facility that did not allow pets. Annabelle is healthy, housetrained and very loving. She was in her foster home for several months when Andra came to Memphis to meet her. Annabelle is now in Nashville with her new family and is doing great. Andra's two cats were not so sure about her at first, but they are beginning to adjust. Annabelle has already found her favorite spot on the couch and loves the new bed where she sleeps at night. She had a great time when she went to her first play date with some other dogs. She ran and played with them and proved what a sweet girl she truly is.

Annie

Annie has had many changes in the past year since she was adopted. In the beginning she was very shy and frightened of human contact. It’s as if she was abused. Today she is very outgoing and walks in the room with a "Here I am" attitude. She is in charge and has claimed the day bed, futon, her bed, and Dori & Rob’s bed as her own. She craves attention and has begun to be a bit more relaxed around strangers. Her nickname is "Pug Bug" and she loves to cuddle with Dori and roughhouse with Rob. She runs around chasing him and then nibbles at his hands. She’s grown very attached to both of them and when either leaves the house or room she makes a noise that sounds like a pathetic howl. She still doesn’t play with conventional toys, but is always trying to find some sort of paper to get herself in trouble with. Annie was adopted a very short time after being rescued from the puppy mill. She’s had numerous illnesses such as ear and bladder infections, bladder stones, and pancreatitis.

Her bout with pancreatitis has been ongoing. She was hospitalized and Dori & Rob have gone to great lengths to keep her well and happy. The most difficult thing for them is that Annie is not allowed treats. Dori & Rob even leaned over the sink to eat so they wouldn’t drop a morsel of food that Annie may get and aggravate her condition. Even with the health problems Annie has made huge improvements and Dori & Rob wouldn’t give her up for anything. She has become their pride and joy and their best friend. Sometimes they feel as though she rescued them because of what they have learned about unconditional love. They look forward to every moment to come with Annie.

Toby

Lynne,a newlywed in Boston, MA moved next door to a family that had adopted Toby from Pug Rescue of Memphis. Toby was adopted last year from a family that already had one Pug. When Lynn met Anne's Pugs and some other Pug lovers, she knew a pug would be the perfect pet to blend with her new life.

Pugsley

Dear Anna, I just wanted to let you know how much Pugsly has become a part of our family. As I write this to you, he is looking at me and sending psychic messages through his eyes and facial tilt about how much he loves it here. He arrived, as you know, without incident. Immediately, he was taken on vacation with us to a cottage on a beach. He didn't really show his "true colors" until he was home for about two months. The first great laugh that we got together was when someone rang the doorbell and he ran to us (the entire family in the living room) and he ran in circles barking - as if to say, "Hey, are you stupid, someone’s at the door.... check it out..... I’m not going to, but you can and I'm telling you get up now!!!!!!!!" He never runs to the door, he always runs to the person in the house and then goes in circles with his news. He loves to be chased and when we do chase him around the tables, he puts his behind low to the ground and tucks his tail down and takes off like Fred Flintstone in his car. It's so funny we fall down laughing and have trouble continuing the chase. We call it "Butt Tucking". He makes noises that are not of this planet and can always bring a smile with his head tilt when you ask him a question. He has become a constant companion to A.J., my son, and sleeps with him every night. He has been with A.J. to boy scouts and also to the Skilled Nursing Facility that I work at to visit residents. My elderly mother loves to walk him, and he tires out before her, which she truly finds charming. He sneezes on legs, jumps up and licks faces, bathes in the front window sun and enjoys baby powder shampoo and post bathing spray. He gets along with our cat Casey, very well. He and Cozy, our other cat, are still competing for head honcho position. He has found a permanent home in our hearts and we thank you and Pug Rescue for helping to place him here. It's a perfect match with 3 kids, 2 working adults, 2 cats and 2 fish. Thank you for working so hard with me to find the perfect match.........because he truly is perfect for us. Eddie

Eddie has found a home where he is the king. His family is in Hendersonville, TN and was thrilled to welcome him to their home. Eddie is full of energy and is always happy to see anyone. He settles down right away. He is similar to a mischievous little boy, all rough and tough, but still wants lots of hugs and kisses. He will be happy as the only indoor pet since he doesn't have to share his new family with anyone else. He loves to go for rides in the car and he enjoys going for walks. Eddie likes taking a bath and getting blown dry. He is very quick when he wants to be, and learns tricks easily. He even likes to dance and will do anything for a treat. Eddie is a great little trick dog and a natural for agility trials.

Fancy

Fancy and Carmine are both doing fine! She fits right in like one of the family. You would think that she has always been with us. This has been one of our most rewarding experiences, ever. When we left the photo event, we stopped by the pet store to get Fancy her very own bed. Of course, we had to get some new toys also. Her very first night was very smooth. Each day gets better than the one before. Fancy has a fenced in patio area which has a nice grassy yard. She does love the grass! We also have a large backyard for her to enjoy also. Mostly, she loves the "closeness" which we are able to give her. My mother is at home with both of them during the day when we are at work. Fancy and Carmine are both at the front door waiting when we come home. Karen & Joe Palazolla

Gracie

Yahooooooooooo – (By the way – that’s my version of hello since I’m such an enthusiastic Pug). My name is Gracie and I’ve been told I’m the most beautiful black Pug in the world. Completely adorable - with a tomboy attitude. That’s me, all right!! I was given up by first family in July 2002 when I was just 9 months old. They told Pug Rescue that they couldn’t potty train me and sent me packin’. Pug Rescue found me a foster home with another dog, a cat AND a teenager. They had tons of toys – it was like a Dogs R’ US – a puppy’s dream!!!

I was determined to show my foster family that I was not the "average" pug – I was SuperPug. I could leap into human arms, climb up the longest legs to get to a human lap, and give kisses all day long. I was on a mission. I had to prove that my previous family was wrong – I am potty trained!! In fact, I showed my foster family that not only will I go outside, but also I told them when I had to go. They were so proud of me. My foster family took me on long walks with their other dog and I got to meet all sorts of people, dogs and DUCKS. They’re funny looking with that really long nose. During our walks, I would collect leaves, sticks and almost anything I could pick up. My foster family kept saying "you’re not a goat" – so what’s a goat?

I always had lots of energy so I loved to go out and play, but when it was quiet I just climbed onto a bed with my foster dog and foster cat and chewed on a dog toy. My foster family was always saying how sweet and wonderful I was. Ok – so here’s where the story gets really good so keep reading....

I was adopted by my new family in Virginia at the end of August. It was quite a change for me in my young life. I was just getting used to my foster "mommy" in Memphis and had just started feeling comfortable with my elderly lady dog companion Copper (she’s a cocker spaniel) when it came time for me to move to Virginia.

The first few days, I didn’t really know what to think about my new environment, so I was quiet and tried to make friends with my new companion, an energetic Min Pin. I really didn’t know what to think of Katie the cat, but I love chasing her.. Mom says I shouldn’t do that, but I find it so much fun! So I’m not doing that too much anymore. I soon realized this place was my forever home and I was here to stay.

My new "Mom" and "Dad" showered me with affection and treats, and take me go to the groomer for monthly manicures. Mom gives me my baths though, and she says I am the best little dog as I really don’t mind baths at all, and I always get a treat afterwards. I shower my new family with affection every chance I get. They can’t resist my "puggy" kisses. One day, I decided my new family needed some help remodeling our home. I think I was just bored that day, so I helped my mom out with taking down some of the wallpaper in the hallway while she was at work one day. I figured I’d at least get them started with that project (it wasn’t too hard, I just started in the corner and worked my way around the wall).

"Mom" and "Dad" must have had a hard day at work that day since they didn’t seem too happy when they got home. But then they decided it wasn’t such a bad idea after all and finished up for me and removed the remaining wallpaper. Dad finished the project up with some nice new paint. Mom liked that so much, I thought I’d just continue with this newfound talent. Next was the bedroom, and since dad just finished painting the walls, I thought I’d give him a little help and got started on the carpet. But mom caught me just as I began tearing out the carpet and decided we should wait on remodeling the bedroom and that a little scatter rug could cover my enthusiasm until later. Mom said "no" to anymore remodeling, so I’m behaving myself these days and occasionally chase the cat when I get that burst of energy.

"Dad" and I have our special time together in the early morning hours, watching television and sharing the recliner after mom leaves for work. Then when mom gets home we have our quality time. I have to be careful not to play favorites. I love to show my family how smart and talented I am. Of course I sit for treats, but when they bring out the good stuff (cheese) I can sit, lay and roll over in 2 seconds flat. Life is good in Virginia. Did I mention that I have a human boy too, to play with, and my own fenced in back yard so I can just run around with my energetic Min Pin companion? I can almost beat her running around the yard. "Mom" still keeps an eye on us, just in case we need some supervision...after all, we are just "kids".

Dena

Dena is a gorgeous 7-month old light fawn Pug. She was given up by her owners who were moving. She is a very active little girl and loves to play. The ideal home for Dena came along and she will have 3 other Pugs to romp with. She also gets to sleep in the bed with her new owners. Dena was thrilled to meet her forever family where she can continue her life as a pampered princess. Her and Savannah became fast friends. They act as if they have known each other forever. They both settled down on the ride back to Alabama and Dena was rested and ready to meet her other Pug sisters, Lizzie & Abby.

T-Bo

T-Bo is a young fawn male who was brought to the Memphis Animal Shelter by his owner. We don't know the reason and are thrilled that we were able to rescue him before he had to go through the system. He has been to the vet and is now up to date on his shots and is healthy. He was in foster care with the Bartlett's and it only took him a short time to adjust to his new surroundings. He fit in so well that they decided to adopt him!. Danielle says, when Gray and I picked T-Bone up at the vet, he was shaking and terrified. He was very skinny and seemed possibly to have teeth problems. He would not eat anything for the first 3 days. But he quickly became acclimated to his surroundings. Popeye was thrilled to have someone new to harass! Razsa was thrilled that Popeye had someone to harass other than her. T-Bo is extremely gentle and really doesn't like to play rough like Popeye does though. They have a lot of "strange noise contests" and love to have stare downs.

Popeye usually pounces on T-BO and then that is the end of that game. Razsa has been very sweet to T-Bo - giving up her bed when he wants to sit on it and also letting him sleep with her at night on her bed. Ever so often she will come tell on him because he is taking up the whole bed. He has also learned to gobble down all of his food and then finish up Popeye's before anyone knows what happened. It is embarrassing how much he weighs now. He has become quite spoiled. He has learned to whine to get his feather pillow fluffed before bed. He also whines to remind me that we forgot his treat and expects to go on walks everyday. He is very smart and 100% potty-trained! We wish we knew what his background was - it is unbelievable that anyone would let this precious angel out of his or her sight!!!

All four of the puppies from the Missouri puppy mill are thriving in their forever homes.

Bumper

Bumper is an 8 year old Pug who was turned over to Pug Rescue when his owner passed away. He's in his new home and has begun to adjust to life with his 3 Pug brothers in Davenport, Iowa. He and Digger, the youngest of the Pugs, seem to have bonded and enjoy playtime with Pugsley and Pee Wee (also rescues) are content to watch.

Emma

Emma's owners turned her over to Pug Rescue of Memphis on April 24, 2002. They were moving out of state and said they couldn't take her. They had gotten her from another Pug rescue organization a few years ago and a breeder had given her to someone they knew who had kept her for a while before turning her over to rescue. This tiny female had back surgery July 9th, 2001 and has some difficulty walking. She is probably around 7 years old. Roxanne began fostering her the day she was turned over to Pug Rescue Memphis. She was brought up to date on her shots, had dental work done, and was given a heartworm test. Her walking has improved significantly and she has gained some needed weight. She is doing so well where she is, Roxanne and Emma agree that she has found her forever home. (Emma had Roxanne wrapped around her paw really quick!) She joins a collie Angel, 2 Pugs, Sebastian and Jesse, a cat Miranda, 3 birds, Cheaper Squirt, BB and Yellow Tweety Bird, along with 3 fish, Two, Tag and Sucky. Roxanne says Emma bosses everyone around and is quite vocal about what she wants. This sweet girl has been given the full name of Ms. Emma Spark Pug because of her determination and sparkling personality.

Dixie

Dixie is a small delightful Pug full of life. She’s happy prancing around or being snug in your arms. She appears to be about 3 to 4 years old and has tons of personality. She was rescued from the shelter as a stray and has been adopted by Manny. He had wanted a Pug for years and when Anna brought Dixie over to meet him she melted in his arms. When Dixie was spayed she had to have two large hernia's removed. In spite of her age she was missing quite a few teeth and had to have 8 more pulled. Manny and his whole family appreciate this wonderful family member and will enjoy many happy years with her.

Dawson

This is Dawson, a 5 year old male Pug. He was sold at an auction in Missouri and turned over to Pug rescue. He has lived his whole life in a puppy mill and was initially intimidated by the new world he was exposed to. He's a gentle reserved guy but began to brighten up when he was picked up by his new Mom, Marion. He was intrigued by the other cars as she drove him home and quickly adjusted to his foster brother, Pancho, an elderly Pug. Dawson was heartworm positive and has been successfully treated.

Minnie

Minnie was in foster care for 5 months when Robin Yarbrough saw her picture and fell in love. Robin has 3 children and they truly feel she was meant to be a part of their family. Robin was prepared for it to take a week or even a month before Minnie would become a part of the family. By the time they got home it was as though Minnie had been with them all of her life. It took all of one hour for Minnie to bond with Ring, the Yarbrough's other beloved pet. Ring prefers to stay outdoors and Minnie likes to watch him out the back door while he shows out for her. The children are very protective of Minnie and won't let her walk for more than a 1/2 of a block before they decide to carry her. When she goes out to potty they are there watching to make sure she isn't out for to long so she doesn't get cold. Minnie has all kinds of new toys and a new bed that she slept in on the car ride home. She sleeps with the children at night and cries in the morning when they leave for school. When they come home in the afternoon she shows her excitement by running around the house. Robin says Minnie has found her true forever family.

Otis

This energetic 2 year old was turned over to rescue when his owner passed away after a long illness. Otis spent a lot of time outdoors with the other family pet. He was not used to a lot of human contact but is very playful and affectionate with his new family. Otis needed stability and security and has found that with the Perkinson's. Pam reports that after only one week Otis is happy and sleeps in the bed with her and her husband. Otis has to be touching one of them whenever he lays down. He loves to go for walks and enjoys the time they spend in the park. He gets along with the other family pets and will be enrolled in agility classes soon.

Arnie

When Arnie arrived in his new home in Little Rock,AR his new Mom, Charlene said you would have thought he had lived there forever. He ran in and found the toys and bed immediately. He and his new brother Zephyr took a couple of days getting to know each other and learning to share toys and bones. Zephyr is a few years older than Arnie and happy to allow him to have the big bones. When Charlene first saw Ernie's picture she thought there was a strong physical resemblance between him and Zephyr. They both have long legs and a beautiful light fawn coat. Now that Arnie is in his new home she says they also have similar personalities. Neither one of them meets a stranger and they love barking at the big dogs in the neighborhood. Arnie and Zephyr both sleep with Charlene and her husband. With Zephyr's influence and good example, Arnie is doing great on housetraining. Arnie is very fortunate to have found a ready made family. He has a Mom & Dad who adore him and a big brother to share his life with.

Anna

Anna touched Sherry Safley's heart the first time she saw her picture. Sherry's beloved Pug, Connie had gone to RAINBOW BRIDGE and Anna reminded Sherry of her. Once the adoption process began, we knew that Anna would be going to a fabulous home. Sherry called Anna's foster Mom frequently to get all the information she could about Anna. Betty, Fred & Lisa King brought Anna to the Basco's where she would finally meet her new family. Sherry and her husband Lee arrived with their Pug, Confuscious. It was obvious Confuscious was loved and secure. He was friendly and made himself at home while playing with the Basco's "herd" of Pugs. When it was time to leave, Sherry & Lee put Confuscious and his new sister in the back seat. He shared his pillow with her in the car and when they got home he showed her around the house. Anna cannot see but we never considered her as a "special needs" Pug. She just needed a "special" family and we are so grateful that they found her! Sherry says you would think Anna and Confuscious had known each other all of their lives. We all know that a special friend can never be replaced but the Shafley's consider Anna a gift who has brought love and laughter into their lives.

Diva & Dewey

These two adorable Pugs were turned over by a breeder on January 4, 2002. Donna Bell picked them up for Pug Rescue and took them to our vet. They are both healthy and are now up to date on their shots and have been neutered/spayed. Dewey is 3 years old and very loving. He has been adopted by Cathy Shubert and has quickly made himself a cherished member of his new family. He gets constant attention from the whole family. Dewey enjoys being pushed in a baby stroller & is adored by The Shubert's young son Tyler. Recently Dewey skipped breakfast and Cathy treated him to an afternoon snack of cheerio's. In the evening Cathy's husband Andy relaxes while Dewey sleeps in his arms cradled like a baby. His daughter, Diva, is two years old and also has a sweet personality. She had a slight limp when we got her and after doing X rays, Dr. Blackburn discovered she had previously had a broken hip that did not heal properly. Diva had hip surgery on January 30 and went to her new home 10 days later when her stitches came out. She is beginning to use her leg except when she gets excited and runs. Derek & Bevan also have two male Pugs, one they adopted from SEPRA. Diva gets along great with her new brothers and even shares a bed with one of them. She's a loveable little girl and is content sitting in Derek or Bevan's lap. We are thrilled that Dewey and his daughter, Diva have been spared from a life of being bred time after time. They will be pets who will be loved and cherished the rest of their lives.

Brutus

Brutus is a hunk of a good looking, neutered male who was found as a stray in Nashville, TN. Anna received a call from the family who had found him. They had been searching for his owner for weeks by posting flyers, placing an ad in the newspaper & calling local veterinary clinics. Even though he was house trained and well behaved they could not keep him. MeLisa happened to be in Nashville that evening and Brutus rode back to Memphis with her. Brutus got his shots and some medicine for an ear infection. Scott George had been looking for a Pug and Brutus seemed to be as close to perfect as he could imagine. They are together constantly and Brutus will never be a stray again. Scott travels the Memphis area for his job and he takes Brutus with him. Brutus enjoys meeting people and has actually helped Scott seal a few deals! Scott has a neighbor who owns a Pug. Brutus and the pug have become friends and enjoy playing on the weekends and in the afternoons.

Petie

This is Petie and his new brother Howie. Howie was the only pet of Julie & Jason when they decided to adopt Petie. Jason had a Pug when he was a child and he & Julie decided to see if Petie would blend with their family. Howie is very outgoing and Petie is shy. Petie had gotten comfortable in his foster home with the Basco's and their four Pugs. When he met Howie he wasn't quite sure about this friendly long haired fella. Julie and Jason were extremely patient with Petie and very committed to making him feel comfortable and secure. Howie and Petie are starting to bond and Petie is becoming a bit more daring--if Howie sets a treat on the ground before he eats it, Petie will come after it! Petie jumps in the bed with Jason & Julie and will come inside a lot more easily than he did in the beginning. Petie has found the perfect forever family and is learning to trust, be loved, and enjoy life as he should.
